Michael Hibner
Dr. Michael Hibner is a native of Poland. He graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw in 1992 with an MD degree, and in 2000, he received a PhD in biomedical engineering from the same university. In 1994, Dr. Hibner started residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In 2000, he moved to Arizona, where he did a fellowship in Advanced Gynecologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. The fellowship changed to Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery when he was there. In his fellowship, Dr. Hibner developed an interest in treating patients with pelvic pain. He traveled to France and Austria to train in the treatment of pudendal neuralgia and surgical nerve decompression. After graduation from his fellowship, Dr. Hibner went to work at Maricopa County Hospital, a county institution in Phoenix. After a year, he moved to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. He started a Division of Pelvic Surgery and Pain in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. From the beginning, he got involved in teaching OB/Gyn residents and students from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and in 2006, Dr. Hibner started a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery accredited by AAGL. During his professional career, Dr. Hibner served on the boards of multiple societies, including AAGL (American Academy of Gynecologic Laparoscopists) and IPPS (International Pelvic Pain Society). He also founded a Pelvic Pain Special Interest Group at AAGL. He has authored multiple articles, mostly on neuropathic pelvic pain, and in 2021, Cambridge University Press in the United Kingdom published his book Practical Manual of Pelvic Pain.
In 2020, Dr. Hibner started his private practice, Arizona Center for Chronic Pelvic Pain, where he treats women and men from around the world with neuropathic pelvic pain. In 2023, he opened a European branch of his practice in Warsaw, Poland.
Also, in 2023, Dr. Michael Hibner was elected treasurer of AAGL, the most prestigious and largest gynecologic surgery society in the world, a position that ascended to the presidency of the society in 2026.
