Obstetrician/Gynecologist

Dr. Kornelia Krol is President and Medical Director of Women for Women OB/GYN, S.C., a private practice in Chicago, affiliated with St. Joseph’s and St. Francis hospitals in the AMITA health care system. She is Board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She provides healthcare to women from diverse ethnic and multilingual backgrounds at all stages of life. She has special expertise in minimally invasive and DaVinci robotic surgery.

Dr. Krol is a teaching faculty physician at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she provides clinical training to the OB/GYN residents as well as to medical students from the University of Illinois affiliated with her hospital. She has received the National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education from the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG). She has also received the highest Press Ganey survey rating for top patient experience and satisfaction scores. She has made numerous presentations on  OB/GYN topics throughout her career.

Dr. Krol earned her medical degree at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. Her postgraduate education has included obstetrics/gynecology and pathology in Poland, Yugoslavia, and the US. She started her career at the Pathology Department at her Alma Mater in Szczecin and then completed her OB/GYN Residency at the University of Belgrade. After immigrating to the USA, she further trained in Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and then completed the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program in Springfield, Illinois at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

Dr. Krol is a past President and current Board member of the Polish-American Medical Society (PAMS), the largest organization of Polish medical professionals abroad, celebrating its 75 Anniversary this year. PAMS is fostering cooperation among American and Polish medical universities, healthcare institutions, and foundations for advancement of medical knowledge. Its main mission is raising funds for scholarships to support Polish-American medical students’ education, postgraduate training, and medical research.

Dr. Krol has also been involved in the work of the Federation of the Polish Medical Organizations. As a Vice President of the Federation, she actively participated in the organization of the 10th Congress of Medical Polonia in Gdansk in 2019.

In addition to her private practice, clinical, and teaching activities, she volunteers her time and supports many charitable causes and cultural endeavors benefiting the Polish community in Chicago. Dr. Krol is a member of the International Women Associates (IWA), an active member of the Kosciuszko Foundation (KF), and a Board member of the Polish Museum of America – promoting Polish cultural knowledge and activities in Chicago. She supports the arts, especially young musicians, as a Board member of the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra. She also supports charitable organizations serving the Polish-American community, including the Gift From the Heart Foundation in Chicago.

Dr. Krol has received numerous awards and recognition for her work and involvement. In 2019, she received the Cavalier’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and the Gloria Medicinae Medal, awarded by the Polish Medical Association in Warsaw. Other awards include the Maciej Leon Jakubowski Statuette (Regional Medical Council in Krakow), Dr. Tytus Chalubinski Medal (Warsaw Medical University), Bieganski Honorary Statuette (Medical Society of Czestochowa), Golden Heart Award (Gift from the Heart Foundation), Kosciuszko Foundation Recognition (Chicago KF Chapter), and Junior PAMS Mentor of the Year.
